Hello!

We know that many of you are anxiously waiting for the DP Dough Philly store to open so you can get the zones you’ve been craving! Others may be anticipating your first taste if you’re aware of DP Dough’s reputation. If that’s the case, trust us when we say that you won’t be disappointed when the time comes.

We’re sure this goes without saying, but we can assure you that we can’t wait to see you either. Maybe we’ll see you at the store picking up lunch, or maybe it’ll be when we drop off countless of zones to you at 2am. Regardless of the time or place, we’re sure that you’ll be satisfied with our service and our zones. We’ll be happy to deliver to your dorm during those late night study sessions, apartment for when you just don’t want to cook, or house party when nothing else will please but a fresh hot zone.

Unfortunately, just because we can’t wait doesn’t mean we don’t have to. If you visit our site with any frequency you’ll notice that our opening date has been moved from “Summer 2008″ to “Winter 2008.” We have been working tirelessly for the past year and half to get the store open for you but things are taking longer than we anticipated. To be honest, this is our team’s first store so we’re learning as we go along. In fact, if you’re curious about what it takes, we’d be glad to tell you all about the process.

Fortunately, we’ve pretty much figured it out (at least for now…) and finally things are moving along quickly. We are currently in the middle of construction and working as quickly as possible to get everything ready to open. In fact, we placed the order for our kitchen equipment this week! We are now accepting applications for all positions so if you’re interested in working with our team, visit us here and fill out the form.

We don’t have a firm opening date yet but anticipate it to be late December or early January, just in time for all of you college students returning from winter break!

As always, we look forward to getting feedback from you and hearing any suggestions you may have for us! You can contact us at d.p.doughphilly@dpdoughphilly.com.

Quick post for all my spring/summer Philly heads. Even though our calzones are addicting, I’m actually not going to get in to that just quite yet. Walking around the campuses Saturday got me reminiscing about my days at Drexel (what up class of 2004). Although this time of year does bring many many good things (backyard house parties, trips to the beach, chillin in Rittenhouse…just to name a few), there are some unfortunate downsides. For all my friends stuck in boring internships, stuck in boring spring/summer co-ops, and worst of all, stuck in hot stuffy summer classrooms, check out this little game to help you pass your time until you can get outside to the nice weather. Leave us a comment and let us know your high score

Check our out our photo gallery for pictures from this past Saturday!

All in all it was a great day. We met tons of students from both Penn and Drexel, many who provided some feedback on what DP Dough Philly should focus on. Sadly we forgot that you guys are lucky enough to still be college students so when we showed up around 2 pm, there was a serious lack of activity on the campuses.

Fortunately, you all crawled out of bed around 5 or 6 so we were able to hand out a little over half the shirts we brought with us. 95% of the people we met were cool and stopped to talk with us, most even offering their support; however, to the other 5% we must’ve looked like shady promoters trying to sell them something they didn’t need. That 5% is going to be sorely disappointed once our store opens and they don’t have the limited edition (collectors item even!) shirt that we gave out on the first pass. No worries though, we will have more DP apparel later.

We would like to throw in that the quality of the shirts were great and the graphics/words we chose were exactly what we were looking for, thanks Asher.

Aside from giving away shirts, we got to finally see our site as OFFICIAL tenants. It was a good feeling to say the least since we have been working on this for well over a year now. I took the time to snap some “before” pictures of our newly acquired blank canvas that will hopefully be in stark contrast with our finished product, DP Dough Philly. Scott even managed to figure out the timer on my new camera so there’s a pic of the four of us that looks like it could be our album cover if we were a band. I’m working on getting those pics up right now, but my day job is interfering with play time

Since we still have a decent amount of t-shirts left we’ll take some suggestions on ways to give out the rest to generate more buzz before we open in August (knock on wood).

Hi everybody!

Today is a very exciting day for us because we’re hitting the pavement for the first time to meet all of you students of Philly! We’ll be walking around UPenn and Drexel handing out our “hot-off-the-press t-shirts” in the early afternoon. The forecast says rain but we’ll be out regardless so look for us.

Here’s some background on what it took to get these shirts ready for you. We ordered these super cute Moo cards for our promotional cards and last night, Jason and I punched holes in them then threaded throughthe rubber band/safety pin setup. Jason came up with this ingenius idea so it wasn’t too terrible pinning the cards to the shirts this morning at Scott’s parent’s house.

As for the Moo cards, we ordered them so they would be small enough to fit into your wallet without being obtrusive. We highly suggest that you keep the cards for the next few months because as soon as we open (keeping our fingers crossed for mid-August), there will be a special promotion for all of you lucky first-movers out there who got the card today and the t-shirts.

For those of you who met us today, leave us some comment love and let us know what you think of our shirts! We’ll be giving away more t-shirts in August but if you have a good promotional idea before then, we’d love to hear it. In addtion, we’d love to hear from those in the local student body who have ideas that can help us get more involved in your community and your social organizations.

Oh yeah, don’t forget to sign up for updates on our the home page. We’ll shoot you an email when we add to the blog with info you may enjoy. It’s easy to unsubscribe if we ever start to annoy you, as if that’s possible !

We look forward to seeing you all in August!

FYI, we are a four person team but Mikey pulled an all-night shift at the University of Delaware store so we let him sleep in.

that you should be getting very extremely excited! And hungry to boot. Why, you ask?

If you have friends at University of Delaware, Cornell, UConn, University of Maryland, or who are by any location you can find here (we are huge Google fanatics), just ask them about their local D.P. Dough. Our guess is that they’ll tell you that we’re the perfect food to come to your area. Our calzones are hot, delicious, customizable, and fresh. If that weren’t enough, we’re open until at least 3 am every day and offer delivery until we close.

The four of us are making headway in development of our store that we hope you’ll be proud to call a part of your community. In fact, we just signed our lease and are about to start construction. As our home page says, we plan on opening D.P. Dough Philly in the late summer and will let you know of a firm date soon.

We’re still working through many of the details of our store and website. We’d love for you to check back here with us often. We haven’t 100% decided on how to use this blog yet but most likely it will be to communicate on our store’s progress, let you know of our upcoming promotions, where we’ll be partying on any given weekend, and maybe even a bit about what’s going on with us in general.

Feel free to leave comments here or email/gtalk with us at whatsup@dpdoughphilly.com to let us know how you think we’re doing! Please be gentle :o)

Also, don’t forget to give us your email address via the homepage. You’ll get updates from the blog conveniently via email. Don’t worry, we won’t be lame and sell your email or clog your inbox.

See you soon!
